A Drift Car Should Look Right Before It Ever Moves
A good drift build has presence before the trigger is ever pulled. Proportions, wheel fitment, body details, and stance shape how the car feels to its owner long before the first countersteer correction. That is the idea behind XDX: a 1/10 RWD drift platform designed to look convincing on the shelf, in the pits, and sideways on the track.
XDX-A90 and XDX-964 share the same RWD drift philosophy, but they take scale style in two different directions. XDX-A90 leans into a modern, aggressive drift-car look, while XDX-964 takes a more classic, low-slung approach. The goal is not to make one body the “better” choice, but to give drivers two distinct visual personalities on the same drift-focused platform.
1/10 Scale With a Low, Wide Drift Stance
Both XDX body styles are built around a 1/10-scale platform with a 255–259 mm wheelbase range. Their proportions are intentionally different: XDX-A90 measures approximately 468 × 210 × 123 mm, while XDX-964 measures approximately 485 × 227 × 128 mm.
Wheel fitment is part of the look. XDX-A90 uses a +6 wheel offset, while XDX-964 uses a +10 wheel offset. Up front, 62 × 27 mm drift tires leave more steering clearance; at the rear, 62 × 32 mm tires create a wider visual footprint. The staggered setup helps create the low, purposeful stance expected from a dedicated drift build.
1.2 mm PC Bodywork With Real Detail
The body shell uses 1.2 mm polycarbonate. The material gives the body enough structure for regular handling while preserving crisp lines and a clean scale silhouette. But the scale experience does not stop at the outer shape.
Independent front and rear light buckets add real depth instead of relying on flat printed details. Scale side mirrors use reflective inserts. Separate wipers, rear wings, exhaust details, and brake-caliper details add small visual cues that become especially noticeable in close-up photography and display.
The two body styles also receive different model-specific details. XDX-A90 carries a more modern, aero-inspired look, while XDX-964 uses details that suit its classic shape. Those differences help each car feel distinct rather than like two shells sharing the same visual treatment.
Two Styles, One Reason to Build
Scale realism is not only about collecting. For many RC drifters, it becomes part of the reason to keep working on the car. A clean wheel-to-fender relationship, the right stance, realistic lighting, and a cockpit that still looks interesting with the body removed can turn maintenance and tuning into part of the hobby.
That is where the XDX idea begins: not with a spec sheet, but with a car that makes you want to look closer. From there, the platform opens into RWD chassis setup, motor-position tuning, steering geometry, suspension adjustment, and differential tuning.
